WEEK ONE
9 Oct:
We landed in Beijing
around 6am. We spent quite a long time at the immigration area as there were
only 3 counters open for foreigners. Met Crystal and Alvin who came to fetch us
to the school I had a small chat with them on the bus ride there while others
were sleeping. Topics revolved around majors they are taking, how long we will
be staying, what places of attraction are there in Beijing etc... We took about
an hour before we arrived at BTBU. First thing was to meet Vicky to do some
administrative work like timetable, paying deposit for accommodation, timetable
for electives.
Crystal and Alvin had
lessons so Vicky brought us to the international house, which was where
our dorms were. We met some international students along the way as they were
moving from the guest house to the international house. After that they brought
us to the school canteen for lunch. Alvin bought us to 美廉美mart to buy some necessities and after that we went opposite school for dinner. The day pretty
much ended after our discussion for tomorrow’s plan.
10 Oct:
We went to 西单today to shop, as recommended by the receptionist as it is popular
among the youth. We saw many departmental stores and the guys got really good
deals for the shoes that they bought. After shopping we came back to the school
and Crystal bought us the Muslim restaurant opposite the school.
11 Oct:
Went to school canteen for lunch and Elaine wasn’t feeling well so
I stayed in the dorm with her while the other went to 玉渊潭公园. We
then went to 百味香牛 for
dinner.
12 Oct:
The guys went to the zoo while the girls went to 批发市场 around that area. We had
some roadside store food for dinner.
13 Oct:
Lepak day in the dorm. Nothing much happen, had instant noodles
and fast food which I think is way healthier than the food sold outside.
